Clarification on claims that Queen Elizabeth was a descendant of the Prophet ﷺ

A chain that claims to link the lineage of Queen Elizabeth to RasuluLlah ﷺ has been making rounds on the internet and many people, including Muslims have been sharing it. The chain is shown below:

A critical observation of the chain shows that the chain is abridged, perhaps for a reason, which may be exposed as we read on.

For instance, Na'im al Lakhmi is actually the son of Zahra, who is daughter of Husayn, son of Hasan, son of Ali bn Abu Talib (KLWH), from Sayyada Fātimatuz-Zahra (AS), daughter of RasuluLlah ﷺ.

So also, one can identify other points in which people or generations that are critical towards verifying its correctness are missing; like between Muhammad bn Abbad and Zaida, but generally the chain actually connects from Muhammad bn Abbad to Hasan as-Sibt (r).

Zaida is where the twist begins. There are three missing generations between her and Muhammad bn Abbad (d. 1042 AD). Muhammad bn Abbad fathered Abbad II al Mu'tamid (d. 1069 AD), who fathered Al-Mu'tamid bn Abbad III (d. 1091 AD). Abbad III had a son named Al-Ma'mun who later became the King of Muslim Qurduba (now located in modern day Spain). So, where does Zaida come in?

Zaida (1070 - 1107 AD) was married to Abu al Fatah al Ma'mun (d. 1091 AD), King of Muslim Taifa of Qurduba (Córdoba), who was the grandson of Abbad II before Spain was taken from the Islamic rule.

The Christian King Alfonso VI (d. 1109 AD) who conquered Spain then took her (Zaida) as a concubine after being told that she was daughter of Abbad III, when in fact, she was his daughter-in-law. She converted to Catholicism and took the baptismal name of Isabel. She went on to have an illegitimate son (Sancho) together with King Alfonso VI.

Coupling the knowledge that Sancho is an illegitimate son of King Alfonso VI, whose mother Isabel was daughter-in-law (not daughter) of Abbad III, with the fact that he is also named heir to King Alfonso VI before he was killed in the Battle of Uclés of 1108 during his father's lifetime, effectively cuts his lineage from the Abbadid Dynasty, and seals it to the Alfonso's, and the Alfonsos are not descendants of the Prophet ﷺ.

Hence, we are advised to refrain from saying that she is related to the Prophet ﷺ because it is simply not true. At best, you can say she sprouted from an Islamic background, since her maternal great-grandmother was once a Muslim before being taken as a refugee by King Alfonso VI, who Christianalized her.

While inviting Queen Elizabeth to Islam in 2019, Shaykh Dahiru Bauchi in an audio message, as reported here by Legit NG Hausa news, said:

"deliver my message to the Queen, that I  am inviting her to, for the sake of Allāh return to Islam because it is the religion of her ancestors. God has blessed you (Queen Elizabeth). You have been ruling over United Kingdom since you were a child. You have been in power for over 60 years; there is no better way of perfecting your blessings than to embrace the religion of Allāh".

In conclusion, she is from an Islamic background, but not from the bloodline of RasuluLlah ﷺ and Allah knows best.

  1. I understand the fact that Zaida is a daughter-in-law and how it cuts the lineage from Abbad dynasty. But the part where you stated that some people or generations are missing is wrong, because looking at the chart, the color of the arrow signifies great grandchild (which is actually correct based on the missing people you added). I suggest you edit that part out so that the entire write-up is not deemed ingenuine.

    Great job btw. Barakallahu Fihi

    1. I am truly grateful for your review. Those lines above totally skipped me. Many at times, such things are done purposefully to make it more difficult for people to probe the chain. But with your comment, I've just improved the article a bit. I hope it's okay now, and I hope to always hear from you on all of our current and future articles. Thank you.
